Eligibility
- Candidates
should have a Master's degree with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved
categories).
- Those
in their final year of a Master's degree are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates
with a 4-year bachelor's degree must have at least 75% marks.
- There
is no age limit for the Assistant Professor post, but there is an age
limit for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
The
UGC NET Paper 1 syllabus is divided into 10 units, including Teaching Aptitude,
Research Aptitude, Comprehension, Communication, Mathematical Reasoning and
Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Information and Communication
Technology (ICT), People, Development and Environment, and Higher Education
System. These units assess a candidate's general awareness, teaching and
research skills, and reasoning abilities.

the meaning, types, and characteristics of research, research methods (e.g.,
experimental, descriptive, qualitative), thesis and article writing, and
research ethics.
Comprehension: Involves reading passages and
answering questions based on them.
Communication: Covers verbal and non-verbal
communication, classroom communication, and barriers to communication.
Mathematical
Reasoning and Aptitude:
Includes topics such as number series, ratios, percentages, averages, profit
and loss, and interest.
Logical
Reasoning:
Encompasses Indian logic, deductive and inductive reasoning, syllogisms, Venn
diagrams, and arguments.

Focuses on interpreting data from graphs, charts, tables, and maps.
Information
and Communication Technology (ICT):
Covers the basics of computers, the internet, MS Office, digital initiatives in
higher education, and ICT in research.

natural and energy resources, disaster mitigation, and international agreements
like the Paris Agreement.
Higher

Covers the evolution, governance, and policies of higher education in India,
