SSC CHSL

The SSC CHSL exam consists of two tiers: Tier-I (Computer-Based) and Tier-II (which includes a Computer-Based objective type exam and a Skill/Typing test). Tier-I is a 60-minute computer-based test with 100 objective multiple-choice questions from English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer in Tier-I.

Exam structure

Tier-I

  • Type: Objective multiple-choice questions.
  • Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT).
  • Duration: 60 minutes (80 minutes for eligible PwD candidates).
  • Negative Marking: 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
  • Total Marks: 200.
  • Sections:
    • English Language (25 questions)
    • General Intelligence (25 questions)
    • Quantitative Aptitude (25 questions)
    • General Awareness (25 questions) 

Tier-II

  • Mode: Computer-Based Test on the same day, in two sessions. 
  • Type: Objective multiple-choice questions. 
  • Sections:
    • Session-I: Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, and English Language and Comprehension. 
    • Session-II: Computer Knowledge Test and Skill Test/ Typing Test. 

Negative Marking: 1 mark for each incorrect answer in the objective part of Tier-II.
