The SBI PO exam is a three-phase process consisting of a Preliminary exam, a Main exam, and an Interview and Group Exercise. The prelims are a one-hour, 100-mark online objective test with English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability sections, and are qualifying in nature. The Mains exam includes a 200-mark objective test and a 50-mark descriptive test, while the final stage involves an interview and group exercise.  

According to the eligibility criteria, any graduate candidate who is between 21 and 30 years old can apply for SBI PO exam. Candidates who will satisfy SBI PO eligibility will be considered for the various stages of the selection process-preliminary exam, mains exam, Group exercises (GE) & Personal Interview.

Phase I: Preliminary Exam

  • Format: Online objective test
  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Sections:
    • English Language: 30 questions (20 minutes)
    • Quantitative Aptitude: 30 questions (20 minutes)
    • Reasoning Ability: 35 questions (20 minutes)
  • Marks: 100 total marks
  • Scoring: 1 mark for each correct answer, 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer
  • Qualifying: Marks are not counted for the final merit list 

Phase II: Main Examination

  • Format: Online objective and descriptive tests 
  • Objective Test:
    • Duration: 3 hours 
    • Sections: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, and English Language 
    • Marks: 200 marks 
  • Descriptive Test:
    • Duration: 30 minutes 
    • Content: Letter writing and essay 
    • Qualifying: Candidates must secure passing marks 

Phase III: Interview and Group Exercise 

  • Marks: Interview (30 marks) and Group Exercise (20 marks)
  • Selection: The final merit list is based on a combination of the Main Exam and Interview marks, with a 75:25 weightage for the Main Exam and Interview respectively.
